Let's Pretend This Never Happened

Bloggers becoming bestselling authors is the most awesome trend ever! It gives wannabe writers hope. So of course I loved Jenny Lawson's, of The Blogess, laugh out loud book, Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir).

Though I was not raised in rural Texas by a taxidermist (I keep wanting to say taxidermatologist, it just sounds better!), I can totally identify with her brand of crazy.

I, too, have a long suffering, patient husband who puts up with my inexplicable whims and "hobbies" (right now my "hobby" is "woodworking," the quotes being necessary because I have no tools with which to work wood, just Modge Podge, and a dirty pallet, but I digress).

In fact, this book caused some marital conflict when my husband would try to sleep beside at midnight, and I was making the bed shake from laughing so hard.

Like the author, I also have a weird animal collecting compulsion. Right now it's limited to cardboard, wood and ceramic creatures,

Sorry about the ugly wall colors. We rent our house. :(

but ever since seeing Dita Von Teese's home featured in February 2011's InStyle Magazine, I've been a little desperate for a jaunty monkey or a sweet, soft swan.

This is a photo of her magazine spread. It looks so lush and luxe.

Anyways.

Whether you are a prospective candidate for the show Animal Horders or not, I'm pretty sure you'll find something amusing in this book.

So yay for you, Jenny Lawson! Congratulations on all of your success! I look forward to reading your next memoir!
