I just got feedback from my instructional design teacher addressing, ArtSmarts, a project I've designed combining art and reading. She likes my project and thinks I should present it at a conference! Maybe I have a future in instructional design after all?
Here is one of the lessons from the project. The kids spend a day learning about the artist Alexander Calder. They read the story Sandy's Circus by Tanya Lee Stone.
They do a reading strategies activity involving the story. Then they watch this video of Alexander Calder and his art.
Finally, they make their own circus mobiles.
